The International Youth for Fair Trade Conference is to be held at Coventry University from 8pm Friday 30 October to 5pm Sunday 1 November, 2009 and we would like to extend a warm invitation to you and hope that you will be able to circulate this invitation to your friends. See how Fairtrade changes the lives of people in the Developing World through a live link-up with Kuapa Kokoo, the Farming collective that supplies cocoa beans to Divine Chocolate
Samba Drumming Party on the Saturday night – showing how, when we together we can do something dramatic
Free chocolate – sample testing of Divine Chocolate and supermarket Fairtrade Teas and Coffee
Panel Debate
· Has Fair Trade been hijacked by multinationals?’
Workshops on:
· Taking Fair Trade to the next level – beyond Fairtrade University status
· “Eagle Meets Condor: Free Trade, Fair Trade, and Sustainability in the Andes of Ecuador.”
· Consuming Fashion, Discuss the increase in consumption of Fashion Products over the past decade, its impact (both ethical and sustainable) and how we might address these issues
· Make your own Fairtrade bath salts, perfume or after shave
· Brush up on your Campaigning Skills
· Learn from three youth projects that have made a difference in their local community’s knowledge of Fairtrade
· “Bare Tees” Create Fair Trade T Shirts to maximise the impact of your campaigns or reflect the maker’s personality
· Learn about setting up a Fair Trade social enterprise business
· Cotton on to Fairtrade: From the Issues to our Actions. The workshop will start with a discussion of the issues underlying Fairtrade focusing on the case study of cotton, then move on to a more interactive exploration of how we campaign for Fairtrade in our universities and communities in order to tip the balance of world trade in favour Fairtrade.

Coventry is at the heart of the Motorway and Rail networks and is also within easy reach of Birmingham International Airport.
Conference Pricing
Places on the conference will be issued on a first-come first-served basis and there is a limited number.
Places are great value at £18.40 but if you book by 16 Oct then you qualify for the Early Bird Rate of only £16.10. We can also provide basic hall floor accommodation (bring your own sleeping bag) for £5.75 a night for two nights and there are several low-cost hotels within easy walking distance of the conference venues. Prices are per person.
